Faucet Configurations: Bathroom
The most important factor in detemining yoiurt choice of bathroom faucet is the style of sink you plan to use, since they must fit exactly in order to work together. Several of the most popular configureations include:
- 4" center set (called 4cc)
- 8" center set (8cc)
- Single hole
- 12" widespread
- 16" widespread
Vessel sinks (bowls which rest upon a cabinet or are specially wall-mounted) can use either wall-mount or deck-mount vessel fillers. They're usually offered in either single-handled or dual-handled configurations, with varying spout lengths to allow for different vessel bowl sizes.
Single-Hole Faucet
Available in both single- and dual-lever designs, these can come with an optional 4" deckplate. Usually used in smaller bathrooms.
4" Centerset Faucet
Available in "minispread" as well as single- and dual-lever designs, these are usually used on smaller sinks & are attached to the base.
4 Inch Minispread Faucet
Hot handle, cold handle, and spout are separate parts of a single unit, offering the look and feel or a larger faucet. Again, used on smaller sinks.
8 Inch Widespread Faucet
Available for deck mount and vessel style sinks, this style is usually used on larger models as the stretch between components can be up to 16" center set. Hot, cold & spout are three distinct pieces, available in two different designs. For proper fit, check the spout height and reach to match your particular sink.
Vessel-Filler Faucet
As the name suggests, these faucets are used in conjunction with vessel-style sinks. Typically wall-mounted, these are available in single- and dual-lever designs to fit varying bowl sizes.
General
Look for a wide variety of styles when choosing your bathroom sink. They can range from low to high arcs, single and dual handles, plus a huge range of materials and finishes. Many newer faucets are also ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) compliant, as well as offering built-in safety measures (anti-scalding) to protect children.
