Glass Sinks - a symbol of elegance and style with a modern feel. They can look sleek and modern, or artistic, full of color. To keep them looking that way, just like any other used surface, they'll need regular cleaning. Traditional glass cleaners, like Windex, have ammonia and other volatile compounds which can burn your lungs and are toxic when swallowed. Here are some environmentally friendly ways to keep your family safe and to keep your modern glass sink looking great:

Clear and Frosted Glass Sinks

For totally clear sinks, such as the Kraus Aquamarine Clear Square Glass Sink or Kraus Oceania Frosted Square Glass Sink, combine equal parts of white distilled vinegar (the type used to salads and cooking) with equal parts water. Put mixture into a spray bottle and use on the outside and inside of the sink. Wipe off with a soft cloth, eco-sponge, or paper towel. Don't forget to follow around the drain.

Colored Glass Sinks

For artisan glass vessel sinks that have a color-treated exterior coating, such as Kraus Fire opal Rectangular Glass Sink or Kraus Irruption Glass Vessel Sink the process is very similar. Use the water/vinegar mixture from step 1 to clean the inside of your sink. The outside needs a little extra care. DO NOT USE Vinegar, Windex, or any other chemicals because they can strip the coating. Simply use a mild dish soap and water. There are many eco-friendly varieties available.

Vinegar is an excellent substitute for Windex, because it not only cleans and disinfects, it also removes calcium and mineral deposits that are left behind from tap water. If you don't like the vinegar smell, add some fresh squeezed lemon juice, or a few drops of essential oils (such as lavender) to your mix. Essential oils will help keep your bathroom smelling fresh.
